This Week in Tabs, Vol. 1: Whilst Twitter was imploding...
These past few weeks have been eventful. I’m stuck in a scroll & cackle cycle. To try to list everything would totally be a stupid thing to share here. I’ve certainly day-dreamed of a single database auto-populated of real-time event chronology…I’d surely be the only one to use it. Should the platform meet its demise, I’ll be out social media user without a home. On the upside, there’s here! It’s not Twitter. I won’t flood your inbox with constant posts. I bring you the first volume of a new post series This Week in Tabs, interesting shares and yummy noggin goodness from things that have consumed my attention from the week.
Purely constructed of archival audio and footage. Shocked that 4 episodes of that had me on the edge of my seat. Streaming on Discovery+.
One line in Tricky Dick had me 🤯:
A Pentagon study released traces three decades of growing U.S. involvement…four successive presidents mis lead the public about Vietnam.”
Title of Part 1 of the 7,000 page document: Vietnam and the U.S., 1940-1950
How far into it have you think I’ve read?
Among all the things I entertainindulge myself in being curious about is underworld criminal activity. It’s not the only dark and disturbing subject matter I’m drawn to. You’ll see. The book primarily follows the first Italian detective, Joseph Petrosino, and Italian Squad of the NYPD, but because he was OBSESSED with taking down the organization that would later go on to become the mafia as we know it, the Mano Nera (Black Hand), you also get their backstory as you follow Petrosino.
28 Days Haunted
Among all the things I entertainindulge myself in being curious about is paranormal activity. And while I know this isn’t for everyone, the older histories that are associated with suspected haunted locations are sometimes very interesting. Like the North Carolina one showcased in this show that I won’t tell you anymore about otherwise I’ll spoil it. Streaming on Netflix.
Finally checked out the Pacific War Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas Why it’s in the middle of Texas I’ll explain in a later post where a single trading card of Rear Admiral Nimitz (commander-in-chief of the United States Pacific Fleet during WWII) was tucked away. Now, I want to make my own. 🤣
A SURPRISE FIND!
I spent today at the Institute of Texas Cultures ie. main photo of this post and was pleasantly surprised to see another culture that had their own use for tarot cards! Confused? I wrote about tarot history here.
That’ll be enough to share for now.
